Senior Master Bill Frohriep, 7th Dan

Founder, Owner and Chief Instructor

My martial arts career was something that started out as what I thought was a necessity but has developed into something much more since I started training in 1982. My parents divorced in 1980 and I went through a period of time where I was always the new kid and the latest bully needed to establish his dominance.

Back then I trained only to learn how to fight. Little did I know that the word "Do" in Tae Kwon Do meant "the way." These tenets, values, and beliefs I learned helped mold me into the person I am today. I developed real life skills like Focus, Respect, Confidence, Leadership, and a Positive Attitude. Here is a little more about my martial arts background:

— World Tae Kwon Do Federation - 6th Degree Black Belt
— International Master Instructor -Licensed by The Kukkiwon - Level 3
— Universal Tae Kwon Do Brotherhood - 7th Degree Black Belt
— World Chang Moo Kwan Association - 6th Degree Black Belt
— International Tae Kwon Do Federation - 4th Degree Black Belt
— United States Tae Kwon Do Federation - 4th Degree Black Belt
— Ho Shin Sul Society - Member
— United States Karate Association - Member

Bill Frohriep
While my first love is Tae Kwon Do I believe that no martial art is perfect. I have always taken the time to cross train in other styles to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of each. It is important to have a core style because it is better to be "a master of one then a jack of all trades." I have spent time training in Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Jeet Kune Do, Arnis, and Jiu-Jitsu. At the end of the day the effectiveness of each, depends on the skills of the practitioner.

I have a very competitive spirit and was very active on the Open and Tae Kwon Do circuits from 1988 - 1993 for both Olympic and Point styles. Those were great memories and I have continued to compete intermittently over the years to keep my skills refined. Ironically I have found even more enjoyment from coaching my students.

Education has always been important to me. In 1992 I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Eastern Michigan University and completed a Master's Degree there the following year in Business Communications.

It is my sincere desire that I can pass along my teachings and help you to achieve your goals! I am always open to correspondence: greatlakestkd@comcast.net
